I did some research into this abandoned summer-camp area was surprised that it was probably the oldest children’s summercamp in Greece, started in 1911 by the famous archeologist Schliemann’s wife and was run into the 60’s by Athens city council until they ran into apparently unsolvable problems with the Church who owns the whole area. It has been sitting abandoned in one of the most beautiful and expensive areas of Athens. Good for me and the few people that can use it now for wonderful walks through the forest and a swim on the adjoining beach.
