went to stay with my friend in Leonidion for 3 days and apart from having a great time got inspired to sketch again. Here the view of her upstairs window.
the red rock in the first sketch is becoming a magnet for rock climbers, this cafe is run by the local rock climbing cooperative, humming with energy.
energy which had to be channeled, me into sketching and my friend into a round of Plaka bay with her new kayak.
the old men’s table under an overloaded orange tree in the village square with ever changing occupation, I was lucky for these 3 to sit long enough for a quick sketch.
lunch on the beach in Poulithra and a rest (and a very small sketch).
after a year of due consideration I have decided to buy a sit-in kayak (thought about building one but it is just too difficult and the result would be too heavy and of doubtful water-tightness). The size is just right to fit into the Libero with a centimeter to spare both ends and the weight low enough to be lifted alone. Since I cannot not build something I made a pair of wheels for it to get to the water easily (and in style).
my favorite material, marine plywood oiled as basic material and a pair of light big wheels rescued from a broken garden trolley ages ago. Overall weight turned out to be only 1.7kg.
the “scissors” are held together with a bicycle clip that opens easily and the wheels can be stored behind the seat.
oh, and of course it is great fun paddling around our coast.
thursday is turning out to be my beach day. So here is another one, of the neighbours at Ag. Marina.
the first swim in the sea is important and always more enjoyable than the later ones, especially because the beach is not crowded yet. Found a nice spot for my chair umbrella combo and sketched the neighbours.
