Since my 4 Goldfish decided to multiply several times this summer my biological trickle filter (made in 2012) ended up being much too small in volume and too hard to clean. So here’s the new one with 4 cutlery drainers stacked containing various biological filter materials (lava stones, perlite, ceramic tubes and Zeolite at the bottom), housed in a flowerpot and exit with a shower drain. All still working with the original solar pump system. Still working on a lid (instead of the splash hood from the kitchen).
trying out Ed’s new underwater camera in our pond (and a bit of photoshop)
Xaver left brand-new at 9.2gr October 2017 and today at 60gr.
Gustaf 12.4gr brand-new in October 2016, 42gr in 2017 and today 102.2gr and outgrowing the weighing spoon.
finally everything has established itself in the new pond. Water lilies and one stunning water lily.
when renovating our bathroom we finally managed to take out that silly Jacuzzi tub, transport it down to the terrace and replace the old flowerpot pond there. All it needed now was a new surround covering the weird shape of it. Marine plywood painted with 2K boat paint, Lino print for that baroque feel, and two waterproof solar LEDs found on sale.
the skirt is marine ply on the straight bit and Styrofoam ceiling trim for the curved part.
now all I have to do is wait for the water lillies to come up and the iris to grow back to their previous size. (and maybe paint that water spout)
Gustaf is now 1 year old (or so) and has almost quadrupled in weight. Here is the re-post of his photo last October:
